Judgement Day

By: Samantha Oprea

As Sarah walked through the heavy wooden doors, she immediately sensed an overwhelming evil. She stood in the unfamiliar place, which was dark and dreary. She noticed a dark figure waiting anxiously in the corner of the room. It was unlike any profound evil that she had ever encountered. An indescribable feeling of dread welled up from deep within her soul and she suddenly realized her fault.

In her life, Sarah had never set many guidelines for herself. It was as if she had always done nothing but run continuously through a never-ending open field with no fences. Being so unruly, Sarah had never really known where her life was leading or when this feeling of emptiness was going to be fulfilled.

The void within her heart was so great that in her mind there was no hope of ever finding peace and happiness. She felt that she had to do it. She thought that it would put her out of her misery and finally bring her the joy and peace that she had for so long desired. Yet she found out the hard way that it just simply shed her of her earthly shell and now her soul would have to face judgement day. She suddenly knew that no good could come from this.

Without warning, Sarah heard a loud, clearly distinct, deep voice coming from the almighty throne. “THE TRIAL OF SARAH LYNN O’CONNOR IS NOW IN SESSION,” He proclaimed. “FROM WHAT I GATHER, YOU HAVE GONE TO CHURCH YOUR WHOLE LIFE AND YOU HAVE BEEN CLEARLY WITNESSED TO, YET YOU STILL CHOSE TO TAKE ME FOR GRANTED. YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE MY CHILD, YET YOU FOLLOWED THE WAYS OF THE WORLD; ANY GIVEN SIN COULD’VE BEEN EASILY FORGIVEN IF YOU ONLY SEEKED MY FORGIVENESS.

“BUT THE FACT THAT THERE ARE SINS THAT GO UNFORGIVEN IS NOT WHAT CAUSES YOUR ETERNAL FATE; AND THE FACT THAT YOU DO GOOD DEEDS DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR ETERNAL LIFE. THE DETERMINING FACTOR IS THIS: IF YOU HAVE ASKED ME, JESUS CHRIST, THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THROUGH PRAYER, TO BE YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR THEN I SHALL NEVER HAVE LEFT YOU NOR FORSAKEN YOU, NO MATTER WHAT, FOR ETERNITY. AND IF YOU HAVE NOT, YOU SHALL SUFFER THE ETERNAL TORMENT OF HELL. AND YOU HAVE NOT. THERE IS NO TURNING BACK NOW.”

With that chilling conclusion, Sarah collapsed to her knees and started to weep bitterly. She screamed out apologies and pleas for another chance. At that moment, she knew that it was hopeless. She had allowed Satan to win her soul. That tragedy hit her like a ton of boulders. She had been given a chance. During her whole life on earth it was right in front of her and she had not taken advantage of it.

Sarah heard deafening footsteps. The evil around her grew even more intense. The Destroyer approached her and collected his prize.

Judgement Day 2: The Good News

By: Samantha Oprea

As Mary walked through the heavy wooden doors, she was delighted with the beauty of the glorious place that she had entered. It wasn’t a room but rather it seemed more outdoors. It was warm and intriguing. She felt as light as a feather.

Mary’s mind was suddenly filled with memories of what had previously happened. She was driving to her high school graduation ceremony and a car had swerved towards her and she was bumped off the road. She could remember the stinging pain and the restless panic; though from that point on it was all a blur.

The place where she was now was comforting and surprisingly familiar. Mary realized where she was. She did not feel like herself. It hit her that she couldn’t have possibly survived that car crash. She now was but a joyous soul and was ready to spend eternity in bliss with the Lord God Almighty.

Mary recalled reading about this stage of one’s life in the Bible. She had become a believer through her Sunday school teacher when she was only six by asking Jesus into her heart. The joy of the Lord had overwhelmed her now more than ever. Now she would be rewarded for her faith; for it was Judgment Day.

She suddenly saw a blinding light. She immediately fell to her knees for she was in the midst of Jesus Christ. Happiness and uncontrollable glee filled her heart and yet she also felt so unworthy and humiliated. She did not deserve to even be near the Messiah, a figure of purity and love. It was amazing!

He spoke in the most refreshing voice that Mary had ever experienced. “Mary Susan Jones, your trial is now in session.” She dropped even lower to the ground. “According to my understanding, you excepted me into your heart when you were only six years old. THAT WAS TRULY A GLORIOUS DAY.

“MARY, I’VE WATCHED YOU AND HAVE BEEN WITH YOU. You HAVE honored me and have told others about me. YOUR NAME IS WRITTEN HERE IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, YOU ARE MY CHILD AND WILL BE BLESSED WITH THE ETERNAL LIFE THAT i HAVE promised YOU. WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!

“YOU MAY NOW RISE FROM THE GROUND AND FOLLOW ME.” together, the Messiah and Mary walked through the pearl gate side by side and into the sunset on the road of pure gold.

Thanks a lot!
In Him,
